Privacy Policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

Scrbbl AI is an open-source iPad app. It has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of its own. This page explains the little data it does handle.

Your handwriting

When you underline something three times or circle it, the app takes a picture of just that handwriting and sends it to OpenAI to get an answer. Nothing is sent until you make one of those gestures, and the rest of your page stays on your iPad.

OpenAI processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy, using the API key you provide. For some questions OpenAI may search the web to answer. See OpenAI's privacy policy and its API data-use policies for how it handles requests.

Your API key

You enter your own OpenAI API key. It is stored in your iPad's Keychain, only on that device, and is sent only to OpenAI to authorize your requests. We never see it.

What stays on your iPad

We don't collect, store, sell, or share any of it, because none of it is sent to us.

Children

Scrbbl AI is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. The app's source code is public, so you can always check exactly what it does.
